Coding Activities

Activities Intro

Read through the activities below. Activity #1 is mandatory. You must also select two additional activities. However, if you would like, you have the option to "hack" one of them. This means you can choose any one of the assignments and alter it to make it more personally meaningful. You also have the option of proposing an entirely new assignment. If you choose either of these options, you must first consult with your instructor and be given the green (LED) light :)

*Don't forget to take photos of your work as it progresses as proof of completed hours.
Feel free to post links to finished projects in the forum below.

Activity #1

Reflect on Coding!
Spend some time on Code.org and progress through the levels. Create a reflection (using any mode) on the experience as it unfolds. Try to reflect as you go rather than waiting until you are completely finished the activity.

Activity #3

Game Time!
Work through the first 5 or so levels on CodeCombat.com. How do you think games like these will aid in the learning of coding language. Do you find that this method of learning is more or less effective for you? Explain. Use any mode to complete this task (It does not have to be a written reflection).

Activity #2

Make an Avatar!
Go to: https://www.madewithcode.com/projects/avatar
Create your own avatar using while learning about placement on an x/y plane. Reflect on the differences between this site and Code.org. Be sure to save a copy of you avatar to share.

Activity #4

Lesson Plan!
Create a lesson plan. Explain how you would use coding to add to your learning environment. How could coding apps be used to enhance your learning environment? What is the relevance of coding to the concept you are teaching? What would you like your students to learn from the activity you are creating.
